About Christine

Meet the Owner  -

Christine Ann Towns
A dancer at heart since childhood, I started teaching dance at the age of 14 in my hometown of Portage, Michigan.  The experience gained in years of instructing young students has proven immeasurable and helped form my very personal and much targeted style of fitness classes.  I began teaching Pilates in 2009 at Core Philosophy Studio in Holland.  When the studio closed its doors, I brought my mat and barre classes to Reflections of Dance and continued my own STOTT PILATES™ training.  Soon, class participation was outgrowing floor space and available class time.  Armed with STOTT PILATES™ credentials and a following of dedicated Pilates and Barre clients, I opened Align Fitness of Holland in the Fall of 2010 with the mission of putting the fun into functional fitness.

I completed training at Equilibrium Pilates studio in West Bloomfield, Michigan’s only STOTT PILATES™ Licensed Training Center, www.equilibriumstudio.com. I chose the STOTT PILATES™ Method because of its incorporation of the latest discoveries in biomechanics and exercise physiology for safe exercise.  Being a former dancer, the concepts and techniques at the core of the STOTT PILATES™ Method came naturally as I excelled in the training program.  A Bachelors degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Counseling from Western Michigan University have provided me with a solid academic foundation of knowledge of the human body and mind. I have always been a helper and a teacher. My passion for helping people pushes me mentally as I strive to help every client find the balance in the mind-body connection in fitness that is so essential in a healthy lifestyle – especially in stressful times.

I was diagnosed with probable Multiple Sclerosis in 1998. While this diagnosis didn't impact my fitness routine at all, I was already struggling to find an appropriate way to stay physically fit as I got older since I had been active all my life. I tried yoga, step aerobics, weightlifting, and running but they couldn’t hold my interest for very long. My chiropractor at the time suggested Pilates and wow, I was hooked from the first Reformer session.

And now I've become hooked on Barre Fitness and the launch of my online studio, Sweat Anytime on Vimeo On Demand. Adding this intense, sculpting and toning routine to an already active Pilates routine is a perfect combination for health and fitness.

Thank you for visiting the website and I look forward to creating and sharing a Pilates studio that is multi-faceted in its approach to fun, safe, and ever-evolving fitness!
